Maintenance & Grounds Assistant


Are you the type of person who enjoys fixing things, working outdoors, and keeping a site looking its best?

We're looking for a practical, hands-on Maintenance & Grounds Assistant to help maintain our supermarket and surrounding property. This varied role is ideal for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and tackling a range of tasks, from minor repairs and preventative maintenance to mowing lawns and maintaining outdoor areas.

No two days are the same. You'll be responsible for keeping our facilities, equipment, and grounds in great condition while helping create a safe and welcoming environment for our team and customers.

Hours: Part-time, 15-20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling to suit the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general maintenance and repair work around the store
  • Perform routine inspections and identify maintenance issues
  • Mow lawns, trim edges, control weeds, and maintain garden areas
  • Keep car parks, walkways, loading areas, and entrances tidy and safe
  • Operate and maintain power tools and equipment
  • Assist with store improvement projects and basic building upkeep
  • Report and help resolve health and safety hazards
  • Support the wider team with practical tasks as required

What You'll Bring

  • Practical maintenance or handyman skills
  • Confidence using lawnmowers, power tools, and equipment
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to get stuck in
  • Good problem-solving skills and common sense
  • Reliability and the ability to work independently
  • A good level of physical fitness
  • Previous maintenance, groundskeeping, farming, trade, or related experience would be an advantage
  • A full, clean NZ driver's licence (preferred)
