Inwards Goods / Grocery Assistant

New World Lincoln is looking for a motivated and capable Inwards Goods / Grocery Assistant to support day-to-day operations of our busy inwards and shop floor. This is a hands-on role where you'll help drive team performance, maintain high merchandising standards, and ensure our customers enjoy a top-quality shopping experience every time.

Operational Responsibilities

• Follow all approved systems and processes for handling inwards goods
• Ensure the storeroom is kept clean, safe, and systematically organised to minimise handling time, damages, and stock loss
• Accurately complete data entry for inwards goods receipting
• Liaise with Department Managers regarding any stock discrepancies, including short deliveries and damaged stock
• Prevent wastage through correct stock rotation and regular date checking in the storeroom
• Maintain a high standard of personal presentation at all times
• Actively engage with customers and provide a high level of customer service
• Stay up to date with product knowledge and promotional information to provide accurate advice to customers
• Commit to a strong safety culture where everyone is accountable for maintaining a safe working environment
• Provide assistance to other areas of the supermarket as required
• Ensure full compliance with Food Hygiene and Food Safety standards

About You

• Previous experience in a supermarket or FMCG environment
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Confident communicator with a positive, team-focused attitude
• Able to work a mixture of shifts including one weekend day
• Calm under pressure and solutions-focused
• Forklift licence 
• First Aid certificate a bonus

This is a full-time role, with hours including early mornings and one weekend day. Days and hours will be discussed at interview.
