Inventory Analyst / Frozen Chilled Buyer 

The position of Inventory Analyst / Frozen Chilled Buyer has become available within our store and calls for a person who can plan, organise, and control the day to day purchasing operations of these Departments. This position reports to the Dry Goods Buyer. You will be working in a ‘one team’ culture, with the latest equipment and become part of a lively and professional team.

The successful applicant will need to be experienced within a buying or similar role, with a positive “Can do” attitude and a high level of analytical ability preferably in an SAP environment.

The skills and attributes required for this position are:

  • Great knowledge of purchasing products across all Chilled and Frozen categories
  • Possesses excellent negotiation and analytical skills
  • Preference will be given to applicant that have a sound knowledge of SAP enterprise applications
  • Sound financial skills and a full understanding of forward buying
  • Merchandising experience 
  • Fully conversant with category management principles
  • A commitment to superior customer service
  • Initiative and integrity
  • High level of negotiation skills and ability to influence. 
  • Excellent presentation, communication and team work skills
  • The ability to be imaginative and innovative

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overall responsibilities for making purchasing decisions and strategies across these departments.
  • Analysis of all SAP reports
  • Compliance with Foodstuffs South Island Ltd SAP directives and KPI’s set down.
  • Assisting in all aspects of category management
  • Ability to achieve targets and profitability budgets
  • Maintaining a high standard of merchandising within the departments.
  • The implementation of Health and Safety and Food Safety standards
  • Profit targets met especially through the intelligent use of investment buying
  • Monitoring sales data and inventory levels, while keeping pace with market information to   keep informed of changing conditions
  • Ensuring speed to market with new products and managing the deletion process
  • Anticipating consumer trends and determining quantity, style and quality of food to be purchased

Fulltime role Sunday to Thursday 6am – 3pm
