Reports to: Dry Goods Manager

About the Role

Due to internal promotion, Gore New World has two Management roles coming available. We are seeking a Grocery Manager and a Dairy & Frozen Manager to oversee the daily operations of their respective departments. These are dynamic, hands-on roles that require strong leadership, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.

Success in these roles relies on the ability to work alongside your team and step out of the office when needed. Being actively involved in the department's daily operations, whether it's assisting on the shop floor, supporting staff or ensuring displays and stock levels are maintained, is crucial.

You’ll also need to build strong relationships with suppliers, working collaboratively together to benefit our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Grocery / Dairy & Frozen department, ensuring efficiency and excellent customer service.
  • Oversee stock management, ensuring correct ordering, rotation, and minimisation of waste.
  • Support and collaborate with Department Managers to ensure smooth operations across the store.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive sales growth and manage costs.
  • Manage staffing requirements, including scheduling, performance monitoring, training and disciplinary matters.
  • Instil and uphold the Gore New World culture, ensuring a positive and team-oriented environment.
  • Ensure all Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations are met, maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.
  • Drive a strong customer service culture, ensuring the team delivers exceptional service at all times.
  • Provide leadership, motivation, and development opportunities for department staff.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment where team members feel valued and engaged.
  • Manage department budgets, ensuring targets for sales, KPI’s, shrinkage, and wastage are met or exceeded.
  • Monitor sales trends and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Implement promotional activities in alignment with storewide marketing strategies.
  • Manage and prioritise supplier and external stakeholder relationships.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in grocery retail at a supervisory level or higher.
  • Knowledge or skills in SAP for inventory and stock management.
  • Forklift Qualification or willingness to obtain one.
  • Strong understanding of stock management, merchandising and sales performance.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work Tuesday to Saturday, with flexibility as needed.
