Checkout Operators - Part-time

Come and join our team!

We are looking for some friendly and responsible people with excellent customer service and communication skills to join our busy checkout team part-time as Checkout and Self-Checkout Operators.

You will need to be aged 18 or over to be able to assist in authorising the sale of alcohol and tobacco in our store.

You will be working with a committed and motivated team who prides themselves on the amazing service we offer our customers here at New World Mosgiel.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Delivering outstanding customer service and helping to resolve customer issues
• Checkout operating and packing
• Lotto
• Managing Self-Checkout lanes
• Cleaning 
• Trolleys
• Authorising alcohol and tobacco sales
• Providing concierge service for our click and collect customers
• Assisting the grocery team
• Maintaining Health and Safety and Food Safety standards at all times

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Customer service driven – you’ll spend a lot of time helping customers
• Excellent communication skills
• Fast on your feet, your days will be busy serving customers quickly and accurately
• Good physical fitness – you’ll be on your feet all day and moving
• Have a good work ethic
• Be able to work well under pressure
• Flexibility to pick up extra shifts and do extra hours
• Be honest, you will be handling money and processing customer transactions
• Be reliable, we are a close team and you will be missed if you are not here!
• Be able to commit to working a weekend day every week, these roles are permanent so will not be suitable someone who is not living in Dunedin permanently
• Good personal presentation
• Aged 18 + years to be able to assist in the approval of sales of alcohol and tobacco
• An LCQ qualification is preferred but full training can be provided for the right people

Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but full training can be provided.
