Butcher - New World Cromwell
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to join the Butchery Department as Butcher in our friendly community Supermarket in Cromwell, Central Otago. Please note that preference will be given to New Zealand Residents and Citizens before considering external applications.

Overview of duties/responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and store meat upon delivery maintaining the cold chain.
- Store meats in chillers or freezers at the required temperature
- Cut, bone, or grind pieces of meat
- Weigh, wrap, and display cuts of meat
- Be familiar with the safe handling of tools and cutting equipment
- Cut or prepare meats to specification or customer’s orders
- Presentation of various products in display cabinets.
- Clean equipment and work areas to maintain food safety standards.
- Manage stock rotation
- Maintain and adhere to work place safety standards.
Experience and requirements:
- A recognized butcher qualification and/or 3 years butchery experience. There is also an opportunity for the right person with knife hand experience wanting to upskill.
- Proven track record and a passion for quality.
- Familiar with standards, concepts, practices and procedures within a butchery
- Understands food safety standards
- Applicant must be able to work within a team environment.
- Demonstrate sound work ethics
This is a 32-hour per week position. Work days would be Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturday starting at 6 am to 2:30 pm. Pay rate $30-$34 per hour paid weekly.
