SWEET/CAKE BAKER
New World Stanmore is a great community supermarket in the heart of Christchurch. We are looking for an experienced Sweet/Cake Baker to join our Bakery team. This is a full-time role (40 hours per week). Proposed roster is 6am-2.30pm.
Daily Tasks Involved in the role:
- Make quiches, cheesecakes, choc mousse, tiramisu, sticky date puddings, custard squares, sponges. Bake pies
- Christmas production – cakes, puddings, etc.
- Bake all sweet line e.g. Instore bar cakes, Instore banana, ginger, date loafs, muffins, cookies, friands, mini banana loaves, croissants, danishes
- Help with the icing of donuts and sweet bun
- Organise catering. Slice platters, creamed scones and lamingtons
- Ensuring food safety and health & safety standards are met
- Delivering exceptional customer service
- Ensuring all products are merchandised to a high standard
- Working with and ensuring all bakery equipment is operated and maintained correctly
- Maintaining a positive working relationship with the whole bakery team and the wider New World Stanmore team
The person we are looking for will have the following attributes:
- Good baking experience with strong exposure to the sweet baking side
- Be able to work well in a small team, but also be able to complete tasks unassisted in the required timeframe
- Must be able to show initiative, plus be honest and reliable
- Must be physically fit as they will be on their feet all day
- Must have a positive approach to their day and have a ‘can-do’ attitude
- Have a passion for giving excellent customer service and going the extra mile for our customers
- Must have great presentation skills and attention to detail
