Retail Buyer - New World Wigram


This position is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated, positive and self-starting team player who would enjoy the challenges of supermarket retailing. This role is responsible for the buying function in our Grocery and General Merchandise departments and reporting to the Retail Buying Manager. We are expanding our retail management team so this role is an additional role within our business.

Are you looking to progress your career path? This is what you will need:

  • Previous buying experience, in grocery or general merchandise
  • Experience with SAP
  • Previous experience analysing financial information and providing feedback to senior management
  • Strong ‘win/win’ negotiation skills
  • Clear communication skills
  • Be a good team player and not afraid to help out where needed
  • Experience developing category relays
  • Experience developing and planning an in store Promotional Program

Key responsibilities

  • Meeting company objectives for the departments including achieving sales and gross profit targets
  • Managing the presentation stock of grocery and general merchandise, minimising waste and markdowns
  • Working closely with the Retail Buying Manager
  • Dealing with suppliers on a regular basis.
