Foodstuffs South Island Limited (FSSI), 100% New Zealand owned and operated, is a major retail and wholesaling co-operative focused on providing the best shopping experience possible and value to its customers and member shareholders throughout the South Island. Their brands include PAK’nSAVE, New World, Four Square, Raeward Fresh, On the Spot, Henry’s Beer Wine and Spirits and Trents Wholesale.
The Co-operative provide a wide range of services to its members including the co-ordination of policy and activities, technology, marketing initiatives, public relations, and accounting support.
The impending retirement of a long serving General Manager has triggered a rare opportunity for FSSI to create an exciting new role on the executive team. With technology advancing rapidly, recent strategic planning has identified the need to embrace innovation through a number of key strategic projects across the business. Based in Christchurch and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager Strategy & People will lead the development and implementation of these strategic initiatives, as well as overseeing core HR functions including health and safety.
Candidates of interest will be degree qualified, possess a broad commercial background, coupled with proven leadership experience developed from within senior roles of scale and complexity. Critical skills include a successful Project Management/PMO background, leadership of steering committees, and the building of strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure project delivery. Ideally you will have experience leading people, be technologically savvy, collaborative in style and described by others as innovative and inquisitive. Experience from within a co-operative environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
